Liam Neeson, one of the most famous Hollywood star is all set to say goodbye to Hollywood. The actor confirmed at the Toronto Film Festival that he would be retiring from all kinds of action movies as per the source. This is a sad and heartbreaking news for the fans as they no longer would be able to see him so stunts and action in his films anymore.
He started his career in Hollywood as a serious movie star, with his debut in Schindler’s List and he did pretty serious roles in the 1990s and early 2000s as well. Liam Neeson saw a boost late in his career, in the late 2000s when he was started in the Taken 2008. Where he played the role of a retired CIA operative named Bryan Mills. The movie did a really good business and landed him a sequel as well. Taken gave an extraordinary boost to his career. Since then he came along as an action movie star and hasn’t stopped since then until now.
Why is he retiring?
The action star has decided to drop out of the action movies, the reason for which he states is that he is turning 66 next year. He shares with Sky News that being a thriller action movie star was never a part of his plan. It was all an accident that gave him the boost that he needed in his career.
He also shared that the reason for turning his back to action movies now is that he is now 65 years old also doing stunts and action is something that he doesn’t feel comfortable doing anymore. Fisting with the young heroes might have looked graceful during his early 50s but he says that he sees a lot of health problems that might come along and he isn’t willing to risk his health.
When is the final goodbye?
In the same interview, Liam Neeson also shared that he has maybe 2 more years, that too if God spares him and his health is in good condition and then he would stop. He said that because of his role in Taken, Hollywood now sees him in a different light and role. Further, Neeson added, that he is getting few more offers which are flattering but he would have to reject them, because of course there is a limit, and somewhere he has to back out.
We completely agree with his reason and the concerns that he has with his health. Neeson was in his 50s when he first took up the role of an action hero in Taken in the year 2008 and after the sequel of the movie, there wasn’t much left for him the serious. The makers couldn’t have stretched it long enough with him in the lead doing actions scenes. Even though the actor has decided to give up on his action movie career in Hollywood action movies, but there is still a good news for the fans. There is another sequel of Taken that is in the pipeline for them to enjoy. Action and stunts by their favorite Liam Neeson before he puts a full stop to his action movies career.
